The Nevada Policy Research Institute posted a story this afternoon detailing a blockbuster court decision in Arizona that could have a major impact on the strength of Nevada’s urban local government unions.
An Arizona judge has ruled that local governments there cannot directly fund the salaries and benefits of government union officials, which is common practice here in Nevada. Read NPRI’s report here… the Arizona government union targeted in the suit says it will appeal.

“Project Dog House is a fundraiser for The Animal Foundation. The theme of the event is a red carpet contest where dogs will dompete for a space in our 2013 non-profit calendar “In the Dog House”, which will be sold at local area pet businesses and online. Contestants will walk in a Puppy Parade around Town Square, finishing in front of celebrity judges who will pick the winners. The winners will be photographed for the calendar by renowned pet photographer Arica Dorff of Pet’ographique at a later date. The event will also include dog adptions, a gift basket raffle, cusome dog house raffle, healthy dog contest, red carpet pup-arazzi photos and a puppy contestant parade.
Sarah and I went down to catch the Helldorado Parade Saturday late afternoon, which runs through the heart of downtown Las Vegas.
